In the early days of VerdeSec, we embarked on a mission to build a formidable team of cybersecurity enthusiasts. Our first-ever recruitment challenge was launched through our early WhatsApp group chats as a way to scout and connect with passionate players eager to participate in local Capture-The-Flag (CTF) competitions.
The response was positive. The challenge attracted a few promising participants, showcasing a mix of raw talent and potential. From solving critical thinking puzzles to breaking down technical challenges, these players demonstrated the skills and determination needed to excel in the competitive world of CTFs.
By the end of the challenge, we successfully onboarded a few active CTF players, forming the backbone of what would become TAR UMT (TAR UC at the time) leading CTF team (With multiple champions).
Looking back, this recruitment challenge was more than just an event, it was the start of a journey. It exemplified our commitment to identifying and nurturing talent, a principle that continues to drive VerdeSec’s mission of advancing cybersecurity through collaboration and innovation.
